My foundation routine is something that rarely changes, but for fall I’ve decided to try some new products to take my makeup game up a notch.
I used to love how my makeup looked as soon as I put it on, but if I was going somewhere and needed it to last and look nice all day, it would end up wearing off and looking a little too greasy for my liking. After doing some research and watching so many makeup videos, I finally found out what I was missing and I have definitely noticed the difference those products have made. This is my routine for those days when I need a little more coverage and longevity with my makeup. It photographs so well too. These products work really great together, as well as on their own since individually they’re still some of my faves. Keep reading to see my tips and favorite products!
Step 1: Primer
I was never a huge fan of primers since I felt like it was just extra junk I was putting on my face. This primer is free of those nasty ingredients that are almost in all primers, such as silicone, oil and parabens. I just apply this one to my T-Zone, where I have a little bit larger pores and tend to get oily. It really smooths out the skin and feels like you put nothing on. I’m pretty sure I also get less oily when I use this, too.
Step 2: Foundation
My new FAVORITE foundation concoction! You guys know by now that Luminous Silk is my go-to, but, for fall, I love a more full-coverage look. I’ve been wanting to try Double Wear and I am SO glad I finally did. It is the best full-coverage foundation I’ve tried thus far and feels lightweight so it hasn’t clogged my pores. Since it is more on the matte side, mixing in my Luminous Silk makes for the best foundation since you’re getting the best of both worlds! You have to try this mixture, trust me.
Step 3: Concealer
This was another product I’ve been wanting to try for awhile. It’s a full-coverage concealer that every beauty YouTuber is obsessed with and has became a cult favorite. It’s super easy to apply and blend out and will not budge all day. I use this under my eyes in the shape of a triangle and the high points of my face such as the bridge of my nose, forehead and chin. This stuff is going to be in my makeup bag for a long time.
Step 4: Setting Powder
I have realized within the past couple months that the key to getting that air-brushed skin look is a good setting powder. Some powders can give you major cake-face, while on the other hand, some fill in your pores and keep your skin looking flawless all day. The Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder makes you skin look GORGEOUS and really keeps your makeup in place without any creasing. I just dip my dampened beauty blender into the powder, tap off the excess, and place it under my eyes and the center of my face. I’ll continue with my other makeup then go back and dust off the excess powder with fluffy brush. This has changed the way my foundation looks and really seals in the concealer and foundation.
Step 5: Setting Spray
Setting spray is all about your personal preference. I like it to get rid of any powdery finishes on my skin and to help my makeup last all day. There are so many different ones out there, it just depends on what you’re into. There are some to help make your skin glowy and dewy, such as the Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist, or ones to help you stay matte and keep your makeup looking fresh all day like this one. I personally like both, it just depends what I’m doing that day. If anything, I’ll just spray my skin with the classic MAC Fix+ to help my makeup set. These sprays really do make a difference.
