It’s always one of my goals to read more. Even though that goal sometimes gets pushed to the back burner, I do manage to get through a few books a year. I was never one for fictional books because I get bored and find myself not finishing the book. My favorite kinds of books are ones where I will actually learn something and will help change my life for the better. The books I pulled together for today’s post are ones that I find myself reaching for time and time again. I make notes and highlight certain things that I want to remember and makes it easier to reference to in the future. If you are into self-help kind of books like me, then these are definitely worth reading! I’ve certainly learned a lot from these books and have felt super motivated after reading them- just what I wanted when I picked them out!
I have this book by my bed and complete a chapter every few days while I’m trying to wind down. It’s like a workbook so you can actually practice what you are learning. It helps you plan out your goals and gives you methods of achieving them. This one is like the ultimate self help book! I will never stop applying what I’ve learned in this book and can honestly say it’s helped me hold myself accountable for my goals and make them my number one priority (this blog being one of them 😉 ).
This was my most recent read. It will be the kind of book I reread multiple times just so I get reminded of what I learned. I’ve recommended it to so many people because I didn’t have enough good things to say about it. When I was coming close to graduation I was extremely stressed and anxious about what was about to happen and this book made me feel SO much better. It gives multiple lessons and examples to show you that there is truly nothing to fear in life, and how you have the power to make the best of any situation. Making decisions now aren’t that big of a deal for me, when before I couldn’t even sleep sometimes stressing about what I was going to do. If you find yourself stressing and afraid of life, this book is for you.
This book was so interesting to me because I’ve never read anything like it before. I learned so much and it opened the floodgates to me wanting to know more about the relation of diet and how our bodies function. I was in a rut with my skin when I started reading this book and it helped me pinpoint what I could be doing different to help my skin improve. It gives lists of “beauty foods” and what foods are great for certain skin issues. There are also a lot of amazing recipes depending on the season that are packed with power foods that your skin needs to look flawless. I would definitely recommend this book if you feel like you’ve tried every skincare product and can’t get your skin to look the way you want. It might be something in your diet!
Some might think this book is overrated, but I really do believe that it changed my life. You’ve probably heard of the law of attraction before, which is what this book is all about. If you’ve never heard of it before, it pretty much says that whatever you put into the universe will come back to you. If you put negative thoughts into the universe, negativity will come back, if you put positive thoughts and energy out, you’ll get positivity back. I noticed a change in my attitude and I notice when I’m positive and putting good thoughts out, good things come back to me. On the other hand, when I’m in a negative, pessimistic mood, it’s like a spiral of negative things happen. It also discusses the importance of visulaization, which was something I’ve never tried before. You can also find look up ‘The Secret” on Netflix and find the documentary version.
Let us know in the comments your favorite reads! I’m always on the hunt for a new one 🙂
